These attractive features have become popular in newly built, up market houses. The roofs are especially clad with custom made sheeting, which includes copper, galvanized iron or chromodek sheeting.

ALTERATIONS
A lot of the more expensive work that we get to do comes from alterations and extensions that have been done to houses. The builders, not being experienced roofers, have created roofing problems that did not exist prior to the renovation.
THIS INCLUDES:
1. Removing interior walls, which actually just happened to be supporting the roof - causing the roof to sag !
2. Erecting a new roof with the wrong pitch - creating a leak, as water cannot run off correctly.
3. Using the wrong roof sheeting ( usually to cut costs ) This also causes sagging and leaks as it can be dented by the wind and rain. ( It can also be buckled if walked on)
4. Not putting in enough support under the roof, ( which is also cheaper ) - this also causes sagging and leaks, as the roof becomes unstable.
5. Using the wrong waterproofing materials and roof screws - ( also a cheaper approach ) - causing leaks.
6. Using the wrong flashings, or fitting them incorrectly - leading to leaks.
7. Fitting gutters incorrectly - either using wrong sized gutters, or putting them in the wrong place - preventing proper drainage of the roof.
