WHY DO ROOFS LEAK ?

We often forget just how much harsh treatment they have to endure - being buffeted about by the wind, lashed by heavy rain, pelted by hail, and baked by the relentless rays of the sun!
As roofs are made up of a variety of surfaces, they are affected in different ways:
1. Tiles get loose, cracked or broken, allowing water penetration.
2. Paint gets cracked and peels, allowing rust to start.
3. Roof sheets rust, creating holes.
4. Movement of the roof sheets cause the roof nails or screws to lift, creating gaps between and under the sheets.
5. The plastic under the tiles perishes, so that the roof is no longer sealed.
6. Waterproofed surfaces exposed to the sun over a period of time, become brittle, and break down.
